So many of us ask God why… What they fail to do is to seek the answer out after asking the question. For some odd reason we fancy ourselves with the notion that God is just going to point the answer out to us with no effort on our part at all. When in fact all throughout the Bible God points out the need for us not only to ask why, but to take that extra step forward to seek out the answer.
I heard this story told which may be familiar to many of you as well. In short, once there was a man who was stuck out in the ocean and prayed for God to send him help. When help came he shooed them away and said he was waiting on God to help him. This happened several times until finally he died. When he was before the Lord he asked Him why He did not save him and the Lord pointed out how He sent him help and everytime He sent the man help the man shooed them away.
So then, here are my thoughts – we ask God why, but then we throw our hands up and resolve that God doesn’t care or isn’t there, when in fact – He wants us to seek the answer out.
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
2 Chronicles 7:14
if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.
